Organic Foods Diet ExposedThe sad truth about the Organic Foods Diet Diets exposed list | Articles index The idea behind this diet is that you improve your health by avoiding foods that are grown with chemical fertilizers and insecticides. In other words, this diet assumes that eating foods from plants distressed by disease and insects will make you healthier--regardless of what those foods are. If that sounds stupid to you, then you're way ahead of a bunch of people who just don't get it. While too much tinkering with our foods can't be good for us, there's a point of balance that optimizes nutrition. Organic foods take you to one extreme. This diet has three flaws:
Assuming you can get food that is actually grown by sound organic principles, you may find that food has higher nutritional value at the time of harvest. By the time you buy it, It may have lost its edge completely because of handling, transportation, processing, and storage. The organic foods movement has some good thinking behind it. Just don't let that convince you that simply eating organic forms the basis for a sound nutritional plan. And not all organically grown foods are good to eat--some of them should not be in your diet, no matter how they are grown. Remember, sharks are organically grown and you don't swim with them, do you? This diet reduces some potential health risks, and that's good. But, it doesn't even begin to address core nutritional issues. And if you ignore those, all the organic food in the world can't save you.
